Overall the recent number of murders or wounded people in Chicago are 11 people had been killed and at least 60 others wounded due to gang violence activity in the Chicago district. Our government has been having issues with gang violence a long time now. They have been trying to stop this type of action but its to much of a big issue to end it.

2.How can we make a difference, to stop this action from happening?

We have to be the difference in our community. We have to have a positive mindset and protest against this type of behavior in order to create a difference in our community. We have to report issues and let our community know we don't support the violence. We have to alert the police when we feel something gang related is occurring.

3. Why do people join gangs?

http://www.gangfree.org/gangs_why.html

Most of the people that are in gangs are people whom feel unsupported or unloved at home. They feel the need to join the gang because they feel they found the love and support they needed there. They feel protected when they join a gang. They feel as if they have a problem they can depend on there "gang" to take care of the situation for them. They feel powerful and strong and can overcome anything who gets in there way. They also feel like gangs will get them money and food the support there family didn't give them. As well some people feel peer pressured to join a gang by friends. They might just do it because they feel it would be cool or fun. Some people also join because there families are involved in that gang.

5. Is female gang involvement increasing?

http://www.nationalgangcenter.gov/about/FAQ

Yes it is indicated in this website by law enforcement that it has increased. The percentages have changed and increased in women gang activity from the late 1990s to the early 2010s.

"From the late 1990s through the early 2010s, law enforcement agencies reported that the national total of female gang members ranged from 6.1 to 7.7 percent. That is, more than 90 percent of the gang members documented in a national study of law enforcement are male. nearly 30 percent of the gang members were found to be female. In another multisite study in known gang cities, nearly 40 percent of the gang members were female."
